Overcoming Roadblocks to Success
Kerby Gilan Salvador
I have learned a lot of things in Kumon – from simple addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to fractions, word problems, and algebra.
- 6 years old (Kindergarten)
I wanted to study in Kumon because I know students of Kumon who are brilliant in mathematics. I have classmates who are Kumon students and they do well in the math. Though math is my favorite subject and my parents often praised me for getting good grades in it, I knew that my knowledge in math is not enough. I wanted to be more brilliant. I strongly believed that Kumon can make me such because I know of other students who have acquired the skills and the knowledge that are needed in order to be excellent. They also possess good behavior and values which they have developed in Kumon.
I have learned a lot of things in Kumon – from simple addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to fractions, word problems, and algebra. On top of these, I also developed the confidence to answer different math problems correctly and speedily. I found that I am able to solve difficult problems even under time pressure.
There were a few roadblocks along the way, such as managing my time between school, playtime with friends and family, and Kumon. But I believe nothing is hard and impossible. All we need are serious discipline, good study habits, love and support from family, and a lot of patience and hard work.
Kerby,7, is currently learning quadratic, fractional, irrational, and exponential functions.
