Kumon Has Taught Me to Persevere and Be Patient
Paula Kaye David
I have realized that Kumon has taught me to persevere and be patient. I also learned to balance both Kumon and school.

My Kumon journey started in July 2011 when I was four years old. I started at Level 6A (Counting and Reading Numbers) since I wasn’t good at counting, reading, and writing numbers then. Little by little, I became good at numbers. The worksheets started easy; but they got harder as I moved up to the higher levels. I realized that my task was difficult when I was in Level B (Addition and Subtraction II). When I reached Level D (Multiplication and Division, Introduction to Fractions) at the age of five, I experienced so much difficulty that I wasn’t able to complete my homework on a few occasions. But with the help of my parents and teachers, I was able to complete Level D and am currently doing Level H (Simultaneous Linear Equations). After more than three years in Kumon, I learned a lot at a young age. I can add, subtract, multiply, and divide. I can also do addition and subtraction of fractions with different denominators. I also learned how to multiply and divide fractions.
Last August 2012, my parents enrolled me as one of the first eight students in the Center’s Reading Program. Being advanced in the Math Program and starting another subject in Kumon was not easy for me, considering that my work in Kumon would be doubled, in addition to regular school. But I did not complain, I just continued what I was doing and learned how to balance my time. The Reading Program helped me develop my reading skills, increase my vocabulary, and enhance my comprehension skills. I have read books like Lavender Moon, When I Was Little, A Cookie for President, and a lot more. I have realized that Kumon has taught me to persevere and be patient. I also learned to balance both Kumon and school.
