Reading Program Introduced

The Kumon Reading Program was introduced in the Philippines, expanding the learning opportunities available to Filipino students beyond mathematics.

1999

First Reading Completer

KPI had its first Reading Completer! Arriane Lourdes Serafico finished the Reading Program at just 11 years old — a milestone that marked the start of a long tradition of excellence.

2001

10,000 Students

KPI surpassed 10,000 students, with 10,927 students enrolled across 92 centers nationwide — a testament to the growing trust of Filipino families in the Kumon method.

2002

First Math Completer & The Thinking Face Logo

KPI had its first Math Completer! Arriane Lourdes Serafico — who had already completed the Reading Program in 1999 — finished the Math Program at 14 years old.

The Thinking Face was also launched as the new Kumon Logo — meant to resemble the faces of students concentrating on their Kumon study.

2004

20,000 Students

KPI surpassed 20,000 students, with 22,021 students enrolled across 150 centers — doubling its reach in just three years and deepening its presence across the Philippines.

2007

30,000 Students & A Young Prodigy

KPI surpassed 30,000 students (30,662 students, 185 centers). That same year, Katrina Isabel Elicaño became the first KPI student to complete the Math Program while still in grade school, finishing at just 11 years old.

2009

Kumon's 50th Anniversary & Cebu Expansion

Kumon celebrated its 50th founding anniversary worldwide. KPI opened the Cebu Branch Office, expanding its reach to the Visayas. Mohammad Azzam Rakiin "Rocky" Macumbal also made history by completing the Math Program at only six years and nine months old.

2012

50,000 Students

KPI surpassed 50,000 students, with 52,196 students enrolled across 234 centers — a milestone that cemented Kumon's role as a cornerstone of supplemental education in the Philippines.

2013

Youngest Reading Completer

Theodore Abara completed the Reading Program at only six years and eleven months old, setting a new record and inspiring a generation of young learners.

2014

Toru Kumon's 100th Birthday & 60,000 Students

The world celebrated the 100th birthday of Toru Kumon, the founder of the Kumon method. KPI also surpassed 60,000 students (62,480 students, 258 centers). Katrina Cassandra Gonzaga made history as KPI's youngest ever Math and Reading Completer, finishing both programs at six years old.

2016

70,000 Students

KPI surpassed 70,000 students, with 73,558 students enrolled across 277 centers — continuing its steady growth as the leading supplemental education provider in the Philippines.

2019

Kumon's 60th Anniversary & 85,000 Students

Kumon celebrated its 60th founding anniversary worldwide. KPI surpassed 85,000 students, with 85,965 students enrolled across 303 centers nationwide.

2023

KUMON CONNECT Launches & 90,000 Students

KPI launched KUMON CONNECT, a digital platform bringing the Kumon experience into the modern age. The same year, KPI surpassed 90,000 students with 90,068 students across 308 centers.

2024

100,000 Students

KPI surpassed 100,000 students, with 103,165 students enrolled across 331 centers — a landmark achievement reflecting three decades of dedication to Filipino learners.

2025

110,000 Students

KPI surpassed 110,000 students, with 111,919 students enrolled across 353 centers — continuing to grow and inspire learners across every corner of the Philippines.

2026

30th Anniversary

KPI celebrates its 30th anniversary — three decades of shaping confident, capable Filipino learners. From a single center in Makati in 1996 to hundreds of centers nationwide, the Kumon journey continues.
